Term 3 Week 2

On Tuesday we went to the Nelson Museum for a workshop on Maori Myths and Legends, fitting trip for Te Wiki of Te Maori. First of all we were greeted by Nicki with a mihi and a waiata.  2 of our Room 10 friends shared their pepeha in response and then we sang the waiata Tutiro Mai Nga Iwi
Nicki told us some familiar Maori myths using pictures and books. Then she shared the local story of the Pelorus dolphin by using a tukutuku panel.
We showed our excellent audience skills throughout the whole session..well done tamariki.
After the final octopus or wheke legend we made our own colourful wheke from pipecleaners.

We continued our Te Reo focus by learning how to count to 10. We made this video as part of a whole school challenge. Have a look at all the challenge or wero entries on our new NCS Te Reo Maori blog at http://tereomaorincs.blogspot.co.nz/

Jane had us jumping through hoops in P.E. this week.

In news some we were treated to a viewing of a rather spectacular homemade boat.

We introduced a new reading rotation activity this week using pictures and word cards to help us write a story.

As usual we finished the week with a fun packed, creative Discovery Time.

Take a look at some more of our 100 Days fun on this slide show. Don't forget to check out the great 100 ideas that were sent in from home..a great effort, well done to everyone who had a go!

Term 2 Week 10

Welcome to our Week 10 blog. This week we have changed they way we are doing our ICT lessons and have put the whole class together in one session. Here we are working in pairs to create some pretty scary taniwhas

We had a visit from the community police officer who helped with Keeping Ourselves Safe topic.

In maths we practiced different ways of forming numbers correctly.....
....
....and Sam taught us all about positional maths using the Hairy McLary book Scatter Cat and some good words like: under, over, next to, between, behind and in front of .

With Jane we had another energetic and fun Fundamental Skills lesson with some more of her clever equipment.

As always we have been hard at work on letter formation and spelling Tricky Words.

Our creativity flowed in Discovery Time and plenty of good of examples of the Key Competencies of  Relating to Others and Managing Self were spotted.

Our week ended in a warm and snuggly Pyjama Day.

As this blog post is a bit delayed there are no notices included.
